Revealed: Why is Wanindu Hasaranga not playing today's match for RR against GT in IPL 2025?

Rajasthan Royals have been jolted with the massive blow for the ongoing game against Gujarat Titans. Spinner Wanindu Hasaranga won't be featuring in the match which is taking place at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bowl. However, he surprised many when he announced the changes for the team and mentioned that Wanindu Hasaranga wouldn't be playing. In his place, the franchise has added Fazalhaq Farooqi to the team.

Skipper Sanju Samson revealed that Wanindu Hasaranga is missing the game due to personal reasons. He also talked about winning games in the league, saying that they are grateful for the last two games. Speaking at toss, he said:

"We would like to bowl here first because of the conditions. There is going to be dew here. EAch and every game in the IPL is important, we are greatful of the last two games and take the momentum forward. It is great to be back.

"It is a very new team, new guys in the squad, we retained six guys but it is a new team, we took time to gel together. The wicket looks really good. Hasaranga misses out due to personal reasons Farooqi comes in."

Wanindu Hasaranga missing the clash will leave a massive void in the Rajasthan Royals playing XI for the ongoing game against Gujarat Titans. The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team pacer has made a decent impact for the team this year in the middle overs.

Wanindu Hasaranga was staggering with the ball against Chennai Super Kings. The wrist-spinner picked four wickets to help his team win. It is unclear if the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team spinner will be available for the next game of the Rajasthan Royals or not.

Shubman Gill, on the other hand, also expressed his desire to field and also mentioned that they are taking one game at a time. He also talked about the performances of the top three, saying that they want to continue their good run at home. He added:

"I would have bowled first as well. Looking at the past few matches, dew has come in during the second innings but we have batted first here. We are taking it one game at a time and not keeping track of how many games we have won.

"If the top 3 or 4 are doing the job then I am happy with that. We have had a really good home run and hopefully nothing changes for us, support from the fans has always been tremendous. No changes for us."
