At a time when batters are expected to score big every time they step out on the field, South Africa star Rilee Rossouw has said that it is not possible until and unless the batsman is Virat Kohli.
The left-handed batsman has had a decent campaign in the ongoing IPL 2024. Although he has not been able to set the stage on fire, he has made decent contributions so far. Rilee Rossouw began his campaign with knocks of 1 and 9 before scoring a crucial 26 runs when Punjab Kings chased down a record total of 262 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
It was followed by a 43-run knock against reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. In the following game, he was out for a duck but bounced back in style with a 61-run knock against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In his last outing which was against Rajasthan Royals, the Proteas star scored 22 runs.

Although he made several decent contributions with the bat this season, he has not been able to grab too many eyeballs and the reason is the lofty expectations from the batters. Rilee Rossouw, however, is not disappointed with it and has a very clear stand on it. The left-handed batsman has said that it is not possible to score big in every game 'unless you're Virat Kohli'.
Rossouw's massive praise on Virat Kohli:
"That’s not going to happen unless you’re Virat Kohli," Rilee Rossouw told Sportstar.
"But you would want to make an impact as much as you can in every single match. Doesn’t matter if you’re just facing five balls and scoring ten runs. As long as that strike-rate’s nice and high and you’re making an impact on the game," he added.
Rilee Rossouw on playing in the IPL:
Rilee Rossouw has played in all the major T20 leagues of the world. He has plied his trade in the Big Bash League, Major League Cricket, Pakistan Super League, Lanka Premier League, Abu Dhabi T10 League, Bangladesh Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and SA20. However, he rates the IPL as the best of the lot.
"The IPL is probably the most iconic T20 league in the world. It’s the biggest. It’s definitely the one that’s the most well-supported. There’s not a lot that the IPL can take from other leagues because it’s doing everything so well. It’s just phenomenal. I think IPL stands alone when it comes to T20 leagues," said the South Africa batter.
