India’s rising star Rinku Singh is all set to make his mark in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 after securing a place in the 15-member squad. Before leaving for the UAE, Rinku Singh has made bold revelations about the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir.
The left-handed batter has been in red-hot form and would be hoping to continue dominating the Asia Cup 2025 after impressing in the UP T20 League. He had scored 295 runs in just nine games, including a breathtaking century and two fifties in the local tournament.

Now, he is ready for the continental stage with confidence and firepower. Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, Rinku has openly given credit to the former Indian batting coach and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coach Abhishek Nayar for the fresh changes in his batting.

Rinku revealed that he has been sharpening his game at the KKR Academy in Mumbai under the guidance of Abhishek Nair. The focus has been on pushing his batting to new heights to make sure he stays ahead in the T20s, where bowlers quickly decode patterns after repeated face-offs in the IPL.
Rinku Singh was quoted as saying by the Times of India, “I’ve been training in Mumbai and practicing at the KKR Academy under Abhishek Nair sir. He has helped me a lot and asked me to now take my game to another level. T20 cricket is so demanding.”
Rinku Singh adds fresh strokes to his batting arsenal
The Indian batter revealed that he has added fresh weapons to his batting arsenal. During the hours of practice at the KKR Academy, he worked on perfecting the sweep and reverse sweep shots. The hard work has made him mentally and physically ready to handle the high-pressure Asia Cup.
Rinku further added, “I keep learning new things, like which shots I can add to my batting. After so many years in the IPL, bowlers know what weaknesses a batsman has, so I practice specifically on improving those areas. Practice has been really good.
Yes, I’ve added a few more shots to my game. I’ve worked a lot on the sweep and reverse sweep. I’ve trained hard during this period, and I feel mentally and physically fit.”

Rinku Singh awaits a call from Gautam Gambhir!!
Meanwhile, Rinku Singh revealed that the Indian head coach has not yet contacted him even after his selection to the Asia Cup 2025 squad.
However, the youngster is eagerly waiting to reunite with his mentor once he reaches Dubai. He is looking forward to a meaningful conversation with the coach.
Rinku has also acknowledged the guidance he has received from Gambhir. He signed off by saying, “Not yet. Once I go to Dubai, I’ll have a big conversation with him (laughs). Till now, we haven’t spoken about anything. I’m just very excited to meet him and learn from him. His support in my career has been immense.”
Notably, Rinku has so far played 1 ODI and 33 T20Is for India, amassing 55 runs and 546 runs in 24 innings, respectively. His highest score in the T20Is is an unbeaten 69, and his strike rate is over 161.
