Rinku Singh reveals the reason behind his new 'God's Plan' tattoo; BCCI mortifies Yash Dayal

Rinku Singh, the rising star of the Indian cricket team, is making headlines once again, but this time for his new tattoo, which is a special one and that has caught everyone’s attention ahead of India’s three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, starting on Sunday, October 6, in Guwahati.

He shared an interesting story behind the fresh ink on his left hand, featuring the phrase "God's Plan" he inked in September 2024. This phrase became famous after he won the IPL 2024 with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when he used it to describe his journey and success.

The phrase held even more significance when Rinku referred to it in connection with Yash Dayal, who played a crucial role in helping Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secure a playoff spot by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the same IPL season earlier this year.

Rinku's connection to the phrase grew stronger when KKR clinched the IPL 2024 title against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In that moment of victory, even Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of KKR, embraced Rinku and echoed the sentiment, saying, "God's plan, baby."

Now, in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of the first T20I against Bangladesh, Rinku opened up about the meaning behind his tattoo that has a sun around the written phrase "God's Plan," highlighting the sun's rays.

The left-handed batter explained that the tattoo holds personal significance, as the straight lines in the design represent the directions of the sixes he hit during a famous over against Yash Dayal in an IPL 2023 match between KKR and Gujarat Titans (GT).

The Indian star recounted how he smashed two sixes over the cover region, one over long-on, one over long-off, and another into the deep fine-leg stand, all now immortalized in the markings on his tattoo.

Rinku said that he wanted to remember the moment for life when he became famous among the fans for his game, and that’s why he inked that special tattoo.

Rinku Singh said in a video posted by the BCCI on X: “Everyone knows I have a famous phrase I use, 'God's Plan', and I got a tattoo of it a few weeks ago. Many people know me because of this too.

The main thing about this tattoo is the five sixes that I had hit, in the areas that I had hit, that is two on the covers, two straight, and one on the leg side. So, I thought I'd get a tattoo on this because here's where my life changed. People started to know me.”

Notably, Rinku’s last appearance for India was during the T20I series against Sri Lanka, where he struggled to make an impact.

He has so far played 23 T20Is in his career and amassed 413 runs at an impressive average of 59.71. The 26-year-old is likely to get some game time against Bangladesh.
