Indian National Cricket Team batter Rinku Singh, who also plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, has reportedly been threatened by a man named Naveed, who is linked to the underworld. That man demanded Rs 5 crore from Rinku Singh, as reported by NDTV.
Sources revealed that the Indian batter has been getting the messages from Naveed since February 2025. It all started with a polite request for financial help, but it had now turned into a serious extortion threat linked to the underworld.
Rinku Singh faces a serious underworld ransom demand
Naveed initially approached Rinku as a fan, praising his performances and his efforts on the field while politely requesting financial help since the cricketer has been helping the needy youngsters in their dreams.

In his first message, the blackmailer described himself as Rinku’s biggest supporter and expressed hope for his success before asking for help in a seemingly harmless way.
As reported by NDTV, the first message on April 5 read, “Hope you are well. I am your biggest fan, and I am very happy that you are playing for the KKR team. Rinku sir, I hope you continue your tireless efforts. One day you will reach the peak of your career. Sir, I have a request; if you can help me financially, Allah will bless you more, Inshallah.”
Rinku Singh’s safety under scrutiny
Within a few days, Naveed’s messages became more direct and forceful. By April 9, he demanded Rs 5 crore from Rinku and told him that he would arrange the time and place to collect the money. The second message on April 9 reads, “I want Rs 5 crore. I will arrange the time and place. Please send your confirmation.”
When Rinku did not respond, Naveed issued a serious threat to the cricketer. On April 20, the extortionist sent a final message while mentioning the infamous crime organization—D-Company. The final message was simply “Reminder! D-Company.”
Notably, the D-Company is a well-known organized crime group founded by India’s most wanted, Dawood Ibrahim. The syndicate is involved in illegal activities, including drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, contract killings, and underworld activities.

Mumbai Crime Branch confirmed the ransom demand of Rs 5 crore made to Rinku Singh
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch has reportedly confirmed the chilling ransom plot against Rinku Singh. They confirmed that the Dawood Ibrahim-funded group sent three messages demanding Rs 5 crore to Rinku’s promotional team. Even Mohammed Dilshad and Mohammed Naveen were arrested as suspects.
Earlier, Naveen and Dilshad tried to extort Rs 10 crore from Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of the late MLA Baba Siddiqui. One of the suspects admitted to making direct calls to Rinku to demand the money. Now, the Mumbai Crime Branch officials are probing the gang’s wider network and providing safety to Rinku.
Recently, Rinku Singh was part of India’s Asia Cup 2025 victory in the UAE. In his very first match of the tournament, Rinku got the only one ball to make an impact while facing immense pressure against Pakistan. With a powerful shot over mid-on on his first delivery, Rinku hit a winning boundary and helped India clinch their ninth Asia Cup title and their second in the T20 format.
