Warrior Rishabh Pant hits a fighting fifty at Old Trafford
Pant has had an awful time in the ongoing fourth Test match at Old Trafford in Manchester, but he has given it all on the field and scored crucial runs for the side.
On Day 1 of the game, he suffered a foot injury and retired hurt. It was later found out that the wicketkeeper-batsman had fractured his foot and won't be able to keep wickets in the remainder of the game.
However, the BCCI announced that Pant will walk in to bat only if needed and Dhruv Jurel will be donning the gloves for the rest of the match.
Pant arrived in the middle on Day 2 after the dismissal of Shardul Thakur in the 102nd over. He was in significant pain after coming out to bat and was struggling to run.
However, he showcased great bravery and smashed a tremendous fifty. Pant slammed 54 runs off 75 balls, with three fours and two sixes, before Jofra Archer uprooted his off-stump.
The wicketkeeper-batsman's terrific knock helped him surpass Rohit Sharma and become India's leading run-getter in World Test Championship history. He also broke MS Dhoni’s Test records for most 50-plus scores in a Test series for an Indian wicketkeeper and most 50-plus scores by a visiting wicketkeeper-batsman in SENA in Tests.
