Rishabh Pant Can't Be Part Of India's Best T20I XI At The Moment, Feels Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, has opined that Rishabh Pant cannot be included in India’s current top T20I playing XI. He believed that despite having more possibilities in the shorter format, the left-hander hasn’t been able to take advantage of them.
The former cricketer-turned-commentator noted that Rishabh Pant’s T20I game has a number of flaws. While the player has experienced success in red-ball cricket, he noted that Pant needs to improve in certain areas in limited-overs cricket.

There Are A Lot Of Concerns For Rishabh Pant In Limited Overs Cricket: Aakash Chopra
“I don’t see Rishabh Pant in India’s best T20I playing XI currently. There are a lot of concerns, especially in the shortest format. He plays higher up the order for Delhi Capitals, but when it comes to the Indian side, I don’t think that will be the ideal role for him. We’ve seen that he has thrown away a lot of opportunities. He’s cracked the Test code but is still figuring out how to go about in limited-overs cricket,” said Chopra.

During the just-finished five-match home T20I series against South Africa, Rishabh Pant acted as India’s interim captain. He just managed 58 runs with an unimpressive strike rate of 105.45, failing to have a meaningful impact with the bat in the series. A lot of question marks were raised after his failure in the series. His overall record in T20 internationals is not great either. With the likes of Dinesh Karthik and Ishan Kishan doing well, Rishabh Pant is under pressure to perform well in T20Is.
His next appearance will be during India’s tour of England. Beginning on July 1, Edgbaston in Birmingham will host the fifth Test between the two cricketing behemoths. After that, there will be three T20Is and as many ODIs between the two teams.
