Rishabh Pant goes on record to accepting experiencing jitters ahead of the IND vs BAN Chennai Test

Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was involved in the famous 'field setting' moment during the Chennai Test between India and Bangladesh. In a hilarious incident, Pant, who was batting at that time, advised Bangladesh's captain Najmul Hossain Shanto to move a fielder to midwicket.

Surprisingly, Shanto immediately obliged and placed a fielder right where Pant had suggested him. The video went viral on social media and garnered a lot of attention from the viewers. The fans loved the moment and lauded Pant for his confidence.

Rishabh Pant breaks silence on famous 'field setting' moment

Recently, Rishabh Pant finally opened up on the particular incident. The wicketkeeper-batter also spoke about his performance on his Test comeback and the partnership with Shubman Gill in the second innings.

In a video uploaded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Pant opened up on the 'field setting' moment and claimed that he enjoyed it. Pant mentioned that he was just trying to help the other team as he wanted cricket to improve.

"I think the understanding of the game for me is that cricket should improve wherever you play. I was just trying to help the other team that you can set a fielder here and it was amazing actually. I enjoyed it," Pant reasoned why he helped Bangladesh in setting a fielder.

In the same video, Rishabh Pant also spoke about his feeling of playing a Test match after a long time. He claimed that the fire inside him helped in produce a magnificent knock in the second innings of the match.

"I think I was very nervous. I was very jittery. But there was some fire inside that I wanted to make it happen. Eventually, I did it. I am happy but not thinking about it too much. Still happy after what I did yesterday," Pant said.

The wicketkeeper-batter also shared his views on the partnership with Shubman Gill. Pant reckoned that he and Gill share a good bond off the field which helped them in forming an excellent partnership.

"One thing that I have understood over a period of time is that when you have a great relationship outside the field or off the field, it really helps to bat with that guy. Because when you share a great bond outside, you understand how that other person is thinking, how the game is moving around," Pant revealed.

"We were just having fun, having fun chats, talking a little bit about the game but at the same time, we both knew what we wanted to do. We were just trying to make ourselves relaxed and just wanted to stitch a great partnership," he added.

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant stitched together a partnership of 167 runs for the fourth wicket in the second innings. Both of them came together when India were 81-3 and had just lost Virat Kohli.

However, the youngsters soaked in all the pressure as they took India to a highly dominating position. Pant was more aggressive as he scored 109 off 128 balls with 13 fours and 4 sixes. Meanwhile, Gill scored an unbeaten 119 off 176 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes.
