Rishabh Pant injury update: India coach gives good news

The India National Cricket Team is currently playing against Sri Lanka in the second Test match at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (SSC) in Colombo. However, with all going in India’s favour in the 2nd Test match, they had some sad news with Rishabh Pant being retired out in the match, as batting coach Sitanshu Kotak shared an update on the batter.

The Men in Blue are leading 0-1 in the series; the Men in Blue started the second match on a high, and Shubman Gill’s side have scored 300 runs after the end of Day 1’s play. Devdutt Padikkal scored another century in the series and achieved many milestones as he played a knock of 117 runs.

Rishabh Pant to play on Day 2

Rishabh Pant was struck on his left wrist by a sharp bouncer by Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara and appeared to be in considerable discomfort. He went back to the pavilion for 3 runs. After the end of Day 1, the batting coach, while speaking to the media, provided an update on the Southpaw's majority of the injury.

"Rishabh should be fine to bat tomorrow", said Sitanshu Kotak while speaking at the post-match press conference.

What happened to Rishabh Pant?

Rishabh Pant was struck on his left wrist by a sharp bouncer by Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara and appeared to be in considerable discomfort. He went back to the pavilion for 3 runs. The incident occurred in the 57.1th over while Lahiru Kumara came into bowl, and on the very first ball he tried to pull the short ball, and it struck him on the wrist.

After the ball struck, the physio came out running, and tape was briefly applied to Pant’s wrist and was removed as the umpire came to check him, and Pant was forced to walk off, retired hurt. The Southpaw has recently come back into form as he scored a fiery fifty in the second innings of the first match. He scored 66 runs in the second innings at Galle.

India takes control of Day 1

India won the toss and opted to bat first. They made one change, with Kuldeep Yadav sitting out due to an illness and Saransh Jain making his debut. They had a decent start with Yashasvi Jaiswal missing out on his fifty as he was dismissed for 45 runs. KL Rahul was decent as he scored 18 runs.

Devdutt Padikkal yet again was exceptional as he scored a brilliant hundred. He yet again showcased his calm and composed nature and anchored the innings, playing a knock of 117 runs off 193 balls, smashing 12 fours in the innings.

Gill was also back in form after having a silent first Test as he scored 50 off 108 deliveries. Rishabh Pant was back in the hut after being struck on his left wrist, as Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed with a score of 43 runs. Dhruv Jurel is batting as India will look to post a high total and win this Test match as well.
