Aakash Chopra believes Rishabh Pant will dethrone KL Rahul as Team India’s next Test skipper.
In all three formats of the game, Rahul is currently Rohit Sharma’s deputy. Many have questioned his skipper credentials, and many analysts agree that either Pant or Hardik Pandya should be given the reins of the Indian team in the future.
In a video posted on his YouTube account, Chopra first discussed the leadership philosophies of Hardik, Virat Kohli, and Rohit. Regarding some of the other Indian athletes who have excelled either globally or in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he had the following to say:
“Three other captains are present. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson are three people I shall discuss. Though Rahul is a world-class player in all three formats, Rishabh Pant may overtake Rahul in Test cricket. However, you have not grasped their captaincy’s distinct DNA.”
Aakash Chopra on Rishabh Pant’s captaincy:
Aakash Chopra also stated that Pant, Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Sanju Samson have yet to develop their captaincy styles. He noticed:
“There is no denying that Pant is improving and learning, but that DNA has not fully matured yet. The same can be said of Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson.”
Aakash Chopra believes Samson was the best leader of his bowlers during the IPL 2022. The well-known commentator stated:
“They are captains of their respective teams, but they are all works in progress. I believe Sanju Samson is doing a better job of managing the bowling resources. He also had a strong bowling attack.”
The Rajasthan Royals were led to the IPL final by Samson. Despite frequently losing the toss, the bowling arsenal at his disposal frequently enabled him to successfully defend totals.
