Rishabh Pant's passion for India just hit another level, as the cricket experts are now worrying about how dangerous it could be for him to play with the latest injury in the ongoing fourth Test against England at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter has suffered a fracture in the metatarsal bone of his right foot during the second session of play on Day 1 when he tried a reverse sweep against Chris Woakes but inside-edged the ball onto his foot. He was in clear pain, and the swelling was immediate.

Pant had to retire hurt on 37 and was taken off the field on a medical cart. Later, India’s vice-captain was spotted wearing a moon boot outside the team hotel in Manchester. But surprisingly, Pant returned to bat on Day 2 and completed his fifty to help India post 358 runs on the board.

Now with India in a tricky position, the left-handed batter is keen to bat in the second innings as well, despite the medical team being against the risky move. As reported by Revsportz, doctors have advised Rishabh Pant to get a plaster on his broken toe immediately; he shockingly refused.

Actually, the Indian star wants to bat again in the second innings of the ongoing Manchester Test against England with a broken toe, and that’s why he denied the medical experts' advice, which would only make his injury worse. Medical staff reportedly took multiple X-rays to assess the injury.

The report suggests that the damage is serious, but Pant is adamant about continuing to play on. Now, many urge the Indian cricket team management not to sacrifice a player of his caliber for just one Test match, considering how he made a comeback after a lethal car accident back in 2022.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is set to miss the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy due to a toe fracture at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. Despite the injury, Pant showed great courage by scoring a gritty 54 off 75 balls with the painful injury.

Dhruv Jurel has taken over wicketkeeping duties in the ongoing Manchester Test. Well, former England captain David Gower called Pant's absence a big blow and praised his elegant batting, placing him alongside other great left-handers like Brian Lara and Garry Sobers.

David Gower was quoted as saying by PTI, “We’ve always joked that left-handers are the best. There’s something about left-handed batters that seems to make their style more graceful compared to right-handers. I’ve seen many legendary left-handers over the years, like Gary Sobers, and of course, Brian Lara, who was probably the best during my early days in the commentary box.”

Notably, India has given away 500 runs in an innings for the first time in more than a decade outside Asia and the West Indies. England now seems on track to post a total close to 600 in their first innings against India on Day 4 in the ongoing fourth Test in Manchester.
