Former India National Cricket Team skipper Sourav Ganguly hailed keeper-batter Rishabh Pant. He said that the left-hander is on the verge of becoming an all-time great in Test cricket but also admitted that the Southpaw needs to improve in the shorter formats of the game.

India keeper-batter Rishabh Pant in his short Test career has done quite a few magnificent things for the team. He is already touted as the best keeper from India because of what he has done for the team in pressure situations and also helped the team to some of its famous wins.

Rishabh Pant was a major reason behind India's Test series win in Australia on their last two tours. He slammed a Test century on his first tour down under and then after that played two stupendous knocks in the next tour including 89 in Gabba that helped India win the series.

Not only in Australia, Rishabh Pant has proved his prowess all around the world. The keeper-batter has slammed Test centuries in England and South Africa. He is the first keeper from India to have registered the centuries in Australia, England, and South Africa.

While his success in Test cricket has been evident, Pant hasn't lived up to the expectations in the white-ball cricket. The keeper-batter has had his moments but he hasn't been consistently for the team in ODIs and T20Is, which has even seen him getting criticised as well.

Sourav Ganguly highlighted Rishabh Pant's success in Test cricket, saying that the keeper-batter will continue having success in the longest format of the game. He admitted that the left-hander hasn't done well in white-ball cricket but can become one of the best with time. Speaking to reporters, he explained (as quoted by PTI):

"I consider Rishabh Pant one of India's best Test batsmen. I'm not surprised that he's back in the side, and he will continue to play for India in Tests.

"He will be an all-time great in Tests if he keeps performing like this. For me, he needs to get better in the shorter formats. With the talent he has, I'm sure with time, he will become one of the best."

Rishabh Pant has been named in the Indian team for the upcoming Bangladesh Tests. The series will mark his return to Test cricket after December 2022.

"I don't see Bangladesh winning; India will win the series - Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly also talked about the upcoming Test series between India and Bangladesh. He lauded the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side for winning the series in Pakistan but claimed that they won't be able to win in India. He added:

"Going to Pakistan and beating them is never easy, so congratulations to the players. But India will be a different kettle of fish; India, whether at home or away, is a fantastic side with a very strong batting unit.

"I don't see Bangladesh winning; India will win the series. But India must expect good and tough cricket from Bangladesh because they are coming into the series with a lot of confidence after beating Pakistan in Pakistan," he concluded
