In what comes as great news for Team India and its billion fans, swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has recovered from Covid-19.
Pant will now be joining the Indian squad in Durham on July 21.
The news of Pant contracting with the deadly contagion broke a few days ago.
However, the left-hander had contracted the virus during Team India’s 20-day break following the World Test Championship final against New Zealand late last month.
According to reports, Pant had visited a dentist on July 4 or 5 and that might be the likely source of him getting infected with the virus.
Pant was at his relatives’ place at the time and following the testimony of him getting infected with the Wuhan Virus, he was immediately isolated.
As a result, he did not travel with the Indian squad for a 15-day camp in Durham.
The Indian team will lock horns with a County Select XI in a three-day warm-up game in Durham from July 20 and Rishabh Pant will not be a part of the affair.
With Wriddhiman Saha too in the midst of 10-day isolation due to him coming in contact with throwdown specials, Garani, KL Rahul is expected to don the wicket-keeping gloves in the first warm-up game.
The 23-year-old, Rishabh Pant, underwent a Covid PCR test on Sunday which he returned as negative and, as a result, he is expected to be available for the second warm-up game India is scheduled to play from July 28th.
The five-match Test series between England and India will kickstart in Nottingham from August 04.
