Rishabh Pant To Miss IPL 2024? GMR Group CEO Drops Colossal Update On Wicketkeeper's Availability

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant went through a deadly car accident in December 2022. Pant sustained multiple injuries and had to undergo multiple surgeries. Now, nearly after a year, Pant going through his rehabilitation period at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru. Rishabh had to miss multiple tournaments such as the Indian Premier League, ODI World Cup, and the Asia Cup.

Rishabh Pant is one of the best players in the current setup of the Indian cricket team and has also cemented his place in the Indian cricket team. Pant is expected to return to the cricket field in the Indian Premier League 2024. Pant, who is currently the captain of the IPL franchise Delhi Capitals, was replaced as skipper by David Warner in 2023 as he missed the tournament due to injury.

However, Delhi Capitals co-owner GMR group CEO, mentioned in an interview to ANI that the franchise is paying special attention towards the fitness of Rishabh Pant. The CEO further mentioned that there is a possibility that Pant can be back on the field in the Indian Premier League 2024.

“Rishabh Pant can play IPL this year we are focusing on him a lot and we hope you will find him on ground this season,” GMR CEO told ANI.

Rishabh Pant has a great quality of playing shots and his wicketkeeping skills have also improved with time. Pant was seen as the successor of MS Dhoni as he was also a brilliant player to bat in at 5 and 6. Rishabh Pant will also be in the eyes of the Indian cricket team selectors if he is available for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Indian cricket team displayed a brilliant performance during the IND vs AFG T20I series and whitewashed the opposition by 3-0. India have not won a T20 World Cup in the past 16 years and they will aim to bring back the trophy home. Players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel performed well in the series and will be making a contention to make a place in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

India qualified for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 but faced a loss against England by ten wickets. Since then, Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stayed away from the T20I format and returned to the side after 14 months during the series against Afghanistan.

While Virat Kohli played an attacking knock of 29 runs during the 2nd match of the series, Indian captain Rohit Sharma displayed a brilliant comeback and slammed 121* runs in the third T20I played in Bengaluru. Rohit had already scored two consecutive ducks in the first two games of the series and displayed a brilliant comeback in the third match.

Rohit Sharma slammed his 5th ton in T20I cricket and became the first batsman to achieve the milestone. Sharma’s form ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 is a brilliant sign for the Indian team and they have become once again the favorites to lift the trophy.
