India National Cricket Team batter Sarfaraz Khan opened up about the hilarious miscommunication with Rishabh Pant during Day 4 of the ongoing first Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. He said that he denied the run because he remembered that the keeper-batter had pain in his leg.

Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant are the major reason why the India National Cricket Team have a chance to win the ongoing game. The duo came up with the staggering partnership that brought India back into the game and helped the team take the lead in the second innings.

Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan batted for almost two sessions and frustrated the New Zealand bowlers. The duo played an aggressive brand of cricket throughout their innings and smashed bowlers all over the park. What was impressive was they were equally good against spinners and fast bowlers.

Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan were also involved in a mix-up, and it could've resulted in the wicket of the keeper-batter. It happened during the 56th over of India’s second innings when the right-hander played the cut shot towards deep backward point off Matt Henry's bowling.

Sarfaraz immediately called for the double run and ran the first on very quickly while on the other hand, Rishabh Pant didn't look interested. But the right-hander immediately realised that there was no chance for the extra run, and he denied it.

But what caught the attention of many was the way he denied the run. Sarfaraz Khan was seen jumping hilariously and waving his arms as the keeper-batter continued watching the ball. But thankfully, he returned in time and saved his wicket.

While talking about the runout, Sarfaraz Khan mentioned that Pant had pain in his knee, and they had decided to run carefully. He said that he immediately realized that and hence denied taking the double. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

"Rishabh had taken a blow on his knee so we had this discussion that we will run carefully. I had called 2 initially but then remembered he was having knee pain. Thank God he survived that."

We were having good conversation - Sarfaraz Khan on batting with Rishabh Pant

Pant and Sarfaraz shared a gigantic partnership of 177 runs and made sure that the India National Cricket Team got a lead. While talking about their partnership, the right-hander said that the keeper-batter was scoring runs freely, and he wanted to give him a strike.

Sarfaraz believes that India is still in the game. He feels that the ball is turning and if they can take early wickets. He added:

"Just that runs score freely. We were having good conversation. I wanted to give him singles as we know what he can do. It is not an easy wicket. We are still in the game. The ball is turning. If we can get 2-3 quick wickets, then NZ will have some troubles."

Sarfaraz ended with an innings of 150 runs off 195 balls. He batted with a strike rate of around 77 and also slammed 18 fours and 3 sixes in his innings.

On the other hand, it was a heartbreak for Rishabh Pant. The keeper-batter kept batting positively after Sarfaraz got out and was on the verge of getting a ton. But he got out on 99 runs off 105 balls. He slammed 9 fours and 5 sixes in his innings.
