Rishabh Pant missed the much-awaited Australia tour due to a delayed return from the injury that he suffered on the England tour. However, in a recent update from RevSportz, Rishabh Pant is expected to return within the next 2 weeks, having ended his rehab.

The Indian wicket-keeper batter had already missed a year of cricket action at a very crucial juncture in his career. He suffered a heinous car accident in 2022, which ruled him out of the game for over a year. Ever since his return, he has been part of India's victorious squad in the T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The left-handed explosive middle-order batter has been a special performer for India, especially in the longest format of the game. Ever since his return, Pant has not been considered a first-choice keeper in ODIs, and while his fortune has not favoured T20 dominance, however, the batter has aced the red-ball format.

Rishabh Pant is likely to make his comeback within the next 2 weeks

Rishabh Pant looked unstoppable in the England series and also has the second-most number of fifty-plus scores in this WTC cycle, with Ravindra Jadeja having surpassed him in the last Test. Despite his form, Pant was ruled out of the series due to a massive blow to his right foot that ruled him out of the remainder of the series.

Ever since then, 2 months have passed. Pant, who has recovered from his fracture, is rehabilitating at the BCCI Centre of Excellence but has yet to get the final fitness certification from the physios. His recovery was delayed, which ruled him out of the Australia series starting from the 19th of October.

As per the latest reports from Rohit Juglan, Rishabh Pant has started batting in the nets and looks determined to make his comeback within the next two weeks, making himself available for selection in the South Africa Test series.

"RP will be fully fit in next 2 weeks, he has started batting from day before yesterday- had an xray last week post recovery - Everything is looking good" reported Juglan.

Dhruv Jurel replaced Rishabh Pant in the home Test series against West Indies

Wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel was picked as Rishabh Pant's deputy in the England tour. Though Dhruv Jurel featured as a player in the playing XI only in the Final Test at The Oval, he was a constant on the field as Pant's substitute at Lord's and then at Manchester.

But after Rishabh Pant's injury, he has been replaced by Dhruv Jurel in the home Test series against the West Indies. Jurel grabbed his opportunity with open arms, as he smashed his maiden Test hundred in the first Test at Ahmedabad.

Not only did Jurel capitalize with the bat for India, but he also made some stunning grabs behind the stumps. Jurel has honestly challenged Rishabh Pant's aerial ability as a wicket-keeper.

Jurel sneaks past Sanju Samson as Pant's replacement in the Australia tour

Dhruv Jurel sneaked past Sanju Samson for the Australia ODI tour, though this decision has drawn severe criticism from the former Indian greats as well as the Indian cricket fans. KL Rahul is the first-choice wicket-keeper in the Indian side for ODIs.

While Sanju Samson seemed a more experienced player in the Indian pool of cricketers, considering his previous prowess in the 50-over format. However, Jurel will be cited as the second wicket-keeper, only to replace Rahul in situations of need like injury or a major dip in form.
