Riyan Parag had a fantastic IPL 2024

Coming back to Riyan Parag, the young batter had a fabulous IPL 2024 season, where he finished as the third-highest run-scorer overall, just behind Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad. In IPL 2024, Parag scored 573 runs in 15 matches at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.22. He scored four fifties in the season and played numerous match-winning knocks for Rajasthan Royals while batting at his preferred No. 4 spot.

Parag has long been seen as a highly talented cricketer but could not prove his credentials in the past IPL seasons. He has been playing IPL since 2019 but didn't have a breakthrough season like this year. Due to his poor performances in the previous seasons, he was trolled heavily on social media.

But the youngster kept his composure and believed in his abilities. He kept scoring runs in domestic cricket for his state Assam. In the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, Riyan Parag scored the second-fastest century in the tournament's history by reaching the landmark off just 56 balls against Chhattisgarh. The right-hander smashed 156 off just 86 balls in the innings and hit 11 fours and 12 sixes.

Along with his ability to bat, the 22-year-old is a decent spin bowler as well and could be beneficial for India in the future. Parag is seen as a long-term prospect who can serve India for years to come.
