2nd innings (England Legends): Kevin Pietersen’s firing batting made the chase easier

Skipper Kevin Pietersen was the opening partner of wicket-keeper batsman Phil Mustard in that chasing where they set up the 46 runs partnership in just 3.4 overs. But Alamgir Kabir ended that partnership by dismissing Mustard for 27 off 16 balls (4 fours and only six).

Bangladesh Legends skipper Rafique took another wicket of Chris Schofield (5) but Darren Maddy’s 32 not out off 32 balls (only four and only six) helped England Legends to chase down the target very comfortably.

1st innings (Bangladesh Legends): only Khaled Mashud and Mushfiqur Rahman managed to score some good runs

Bangladesh Legends had a very weak start as their top-order batsmen failed to provide a strong setup. Their first five batsmen failed to reach the 20-run marks while only two of them managed to score double-digit runs (opener Nazimuddin 12 & Hannan Sarkar 13).

In the 10 overs, Bangladesh Legends were struggling on 55/5. But then Khaled Mashud and Mushfiqur Rahman put the 51 runs partnership for the unbroken sixth wicket. But at the end of the 19th over, Mashud returned to the pavilion as the retired hurt on 31 off 39 balls (3 fours) as he had likely a muscle injury in his arm.

Earlier, in the 12th over, Mashud was wrongly given lbw out while the ball first touched his bat before hitting on his pad. But after understanding the real incident, England Legends captain Kevin Pietersen talked with his teammate and then decided to take back that appeal as Mashud returned to the crease.

The other batsman Mushfiqur Rahman scored 30 not out off 26 balls (4 fours).

Among the England Legends bowlers, Chris Tremlett got two wickets as he finished with the bowling figures of 2-0-10-2. Also, Monty Panesar (1/15), Ryan Sidebottom (1/24) and Chris Schofield (1/21) took one wicket each in that innings.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh Legends – 113/5 in 20 overs (Khaled Mashud 31 retired hurt, Mushfiqur Rahman 30*; Chris Tremlett 2/10)

England Legends – 117/3 in 14 overs (Kevin Pietersen 42, Darren Maddy 32*; Mohammad Rafique 2/31)

Result – England Legends won by 7 wickets
