Ex-CSK star Robin Uthappa called the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) rivalry beyond sport.

Both CSK and RCB have a big loyal fanbase, and whenever these two teams play away matches, it seems like they are playing the game in their home because of the crowd support.

In the last two years, the CSK and RCB rivalry has become more intense due to the quality of matches between both teams. The fans are seen in the stadium mocking each other

Robin Uthappa doesn’t like CSK vs RCB fan war

Robin Uthappa talked about an instance when he was watching the match between CSK vs RCB in Bengaluru, and the RCB fans were mocking the CSK team as they were leaving the stadium.

Uthappa also recalled an instance from Bengaluru, when the mocking between fans led to a physical altercation outside the stadium and on the roads of Bengaluru.

“It was pretty intense. Outside the stadium, they were mocking the players of the team when the bus was leaving the stadium. That was one thing I saw which was in bad taste. The other one I saw were fans fighting with each other – a CSK fan and an RCB fan, both locals from Bengaluru – fighting with each other. I saw women being heckled, which felt unsavory,” Robin Uthappa stated on his YouTube channel.

RCB fans take rivalry to another level

In this edition of IPL, CSK were traveling to Bengaluru on May 3, and the RCB fans took the rivalry to another level as they were seen selling jail-like t-shirts outside the stadium.

They did this knowingly because CSK were banned for two years from the IPL. RCB fans added more spice to their rivalry.

“It’s gotten pretty intense. They’re holding up jerseys, white T-shirts marked with black lines on it stating that for two years CSK were banned. And they kind of had written MS’ number on it and Thala under it, depicting that they were banned for two years and were in Jail. It is getting a little intense and beyond sport, which concerns me,” Robin Uthappad added.

RCB’s upper hand on CSK in the last two years

In the last two years, RCB has dominantly defeated the five-time champions in the IPL. In this edition, RCB beat them at their home and on their home as well.

RCB broke the fortress of Chennai in Chennai by beating them for the first time since 2008. In the last two years, CSK and RCB played against each other four times, and RCB won three matches against them.

In the overall head-to-head record, CSK has beaten RCB for a record 21 times out of 35. RCB won only 13 times against them in IPL history.
