Robin Uthappa ESCAPES ARREST for now as High court puts arrest warrant on hold in fraud case

Former India National Cricket Team cricketer Robin Uthappa has got a stay for the arrest warrant that was issued against him in alleged fraud related to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) deposits. The order was issued by the Karnataka High Court Bench presided over by Justice Suraj Govindaraj on Tuesday.
Uthappa recently found himself in the middle of a big controversy after he was accused of fraud related to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) deposits of the company Centauries Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, Indiranagar, where he served as a director.

Following the allegations, Robin Uthappa was issued an arrest warrant by Shadakshara Gopala Reddy, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner – II, and Recovery Officer, K R Puram. The order stated that the former India cricketer is a defaulter and Rs 23,36,602 is to be recovered from him.
However, Robin Uthappa raised his voice against the allegations, and apart from the legal formalities, he also provided fans with updates about the same. He detailed the whole issue and now, for that, has been granted interim protection and a stay order against an arrest warrant.

Robin Uthappa, who was given time till December 27 to pay the dues, revealed that he had made financial contributions to the company and hence was named as the director of companies in 2018-19. However, he isn't serving the role currently in the company as he has no time to take part in the day-to-day operations of the businesses due to his commitments with cricket-related duties.
Uthappa added that he had resigned from the role several years ago and also revealed that companies had failed to repay the funds which forced him to initiate legal proceedings. He also urged the media not to defame him and present information only after verifying it.
He had said: "Despite this, the Provident Fund authorities have continued with proceedings, and my legal advisors will take the necessary steps to resolve this matter in the coming days. I would also like to urge the media to kindly present complete facts and to verify the authenticity of the information being shared."
Robin Uthappa played 59 international matches for India
Robin Uthappa has carried his love for the game even after retiring. The former India National Cricket Team player has taken up the broadcasting role.
He played 59 international matches for India, scoring 1,183 runs to go with seven half-centuries. In the IPL, too, he was a stalwart, as he won titles with KKR and CSK in 2014 and 2021, respectively. He scored 4925 runs.
