Rohan Jaitley reveals how DPL has transformed Delhi Cricket
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley has admitted that Delhi cricket has improved significantly since the DPL came into the picture.
Jaitley was quoted as saying by the Times of India: “DPL has been consistently throwing up names who are fetching good prices in the IPL. We expect a few more this year.”
He also feels the tournament has an impact on women’s cricket. The senior Delhi women’s team recently won the national one-day tournament, while the U-23 side has also enjoyed success, winning the competition once and finishing runners-up on another occasion.
The Delhi Premier League is also helping the DDCA financially. Jaitley said the profits from the DPL are now enough for the association to manage all the expenses. He shared, “All I can say is that the DDCA can now take care of the expenses for all the Delhi state teams across age groups and genders throughout the year with the profit we make from this league.”
DDCA ready to review DPL rules
Rohan Jaitley also addressed the Dev Chaudhary controversy in the Delhi Premier League 2026. The 22-year-old batter had very little professional experience but was still picked directly in the New Delhi Tigers playing XI, which sparked big controversy.
He struggled with the bat, scoring 0 off 2 balls in one match and 16 off 24 balls in another. His unusual batting style, several dot balls, a dropped catch and an argument with his coach created a huge uproar on social media. This led to fans questioning his selection criterion.
The DDCA president said that the state body reviews the rules of the league after every season. So, if there are areas that need improvement, they are open to making changes. He also said he feels for Chaudhary. Jaitley further explained, “DDCA, by principle, revisits every regulation of the league after each season. I feel for the boy for what he has to go through.”
Rohan Jaitley drops huge stadium update and stern Ranji Trophy warning
Speaking about the proposed new cricket stadium in Delhi, the DDCA president said: “We have identified two spots in Delhi. One is the landfill in Okhla, and the other is near Badarpur. We are in the process of finalising the venue to build a stadium with 70-80k capacity. We are in talks with BCCI to come up with suggestions or a collaboration to create a state-of-the-art facility.”
Rohan Jaitley also sent a strong warning to the players who deliberately avoid the Ranji Trophy, saying they will not be picked for the Delhi side in any format if they miss the red-ball games intentionally. He shared that the DDCA has noticed that a few senior fast bowlers have been avoiding Ranji Trophy matches for T20s.
