India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma is having a torrid time with the bat in the ongoing Test series against the Australia National Cricket Team. His woes continued even in the ongoing third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which is underway at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Rohit Sharma walked out to bat at No.6 during the fag end of the Day 3. The skipper did well to stay unbeaten at stumps and it was expected that he would set the stage on fire in the ongoing game. With India under massive pressure, many backed the captain to lead from the front.
Rohit Sharma bagged another low score in the series, Pat Cummins removed him for 6th time in Test cricket
But that wasn't the case as Rohit Sharma bagged another low score in the series. The batter started pretty well as he left the ball and also played a magnificent cover drive as well. However, his stay at the crease was cut short was Australia captain Pat Cummins.
Pat Cummins pitched a fuller delivery close to the off stump to which Rohit Sharma poked at it. The batter played at it with hard hands as the ball caught the outside edge, which was safely pouched by the wicketkeeper Alex Carey behind the stumps.
Rohit Sharma ended his innings with 10 runs off 27 balls and also hit two boundaries in his innings. This marked the third consecutive failure in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. With this, the India National Cricket Team skipper has come under massive scanner.

Amid all this, Rohit Sharma sparked rumours about his retirement with his gesture. As he walked towards the dressing room, the batter left his gloves in front of the dugout, just behind the advertisement board.
This made many fans speculate about his retirement and they came up with a few reactions:

The worrying part was Rohit Sharma never looked like surviving the spell from Pat Cummins. Worked over & knocked out, his gloves now left lying in front of the dugout .#AusvInd pic.twitter.com/Q0Y6zl4tSt

It will be a great decision if he decides to retire since batting in red ball has really became tough for him. pic.twitter.com/eYmImydgbs
Rohit Sharma's sudden decline in Test cricket has been the biggest cause of concern for Indian team
Rohit Sharma, in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has scored just 19 runs in three innings in the Australia tour as his woeful run continued. The skipper has already announced his retirement from the T20I after the T20 World Cup 2024 and it won't be a surprise if he calls time on his career in Tests too.
Rohit Sharma's sudden decline in Test cricket has been concerning. He looked in terrific touch in the England series at home in February earlier this year. However, in the latter half of the year, he looked torrid as he failed in both the series against Bangladesh and New Zealand. With two more Tests remaining in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, it remains to be seen what will be the future of India's captain.
