Mohammad Saleem Safi Claims Maiden ODI Wicket With Yashasvi Jaiswal Dismissal
Afghanistan struck early when Mohammad Saleem Safi dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left-handed opener attempted a cut shot against a short and wide delivery but failed to place it away from the fielder.
Nangeyalia Kharote, stationed at backward point, reacted quickly and completed the catch on his second attempt after briefly juggling the ball inside the 30-yard circle. Saleem Safi secured his maiden ODI wicket for Afghanistan and gave the visitors an early breakthrough.
However, Afghanistan could not build on the early success as India's batters quickly regained control of the innings. At the end of the Powerplay, India raced to 80/1, with Afghanistan struggling to maintain consistent lines and lengths.
While Saleem Safi removed Jaiswal in the second over, the visitors found little success afterward as India's batting pair added an unbeaten 71-run partnership from 48 balls, keeping the hosts firmly in command.
