Indian opener Rohit Sharma’s absence from the field on Day 4 and Day 5 sent the fans into turmoil. However, he has given some positive news on his injury at the post-match presentation ceremony.

During his stellar knock of 127 in the third innings of the Oval Test, Rohit suffered bruises on his thigh. After India’s innings on Day 4, he didn’t step out onto the field complaining of a problem. The BCCI had confirmed the same.

The message from the physio is to take it by the minute and keep assessing it but it looks good so far,” Rohit Sharma said.

The fourth Test had many ups and downs but India came out victorious on the fifth day at the Oval. The match was evenly poised but the visitors made inroads at regular intervals which put the England side under pressure.

Joe Root
Joe Root had a rare double failure in the Oval Test.

The weak middle-order couldn’t handle fierce spells from Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja and suffered a stunning collapse where they lost 4 wickets for six runs. They never fully recovered from it and once Joe Root fell to Shardul Thakur, the writing was on the wall.

It was a mere formality to wrap up the tail and India played with their food before hitting the final nail on the coffin. It was a combined bowling effort from the team on a placid track that earned a thumping 157-run victory.

Thakur scored fifties in both innings, Cheteshwar Pujara continued his resurgence, Umesh Yadav’s return to Tests was a success, indicating almost everything went right for the team after conceding a 99-run first-innings lead.

The fifth and last Test will be played in Manchester from September 10.
