India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has been having a great day on the field in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. The first ODI of the three-match series between the teams is taking place at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday (2nd August).

Rohit Sharma has ticked almost every box right with his leadership in the ongoing game against Sri Lanka National Cricket Team. Everything India captain has touched turned into gold as his team has been all over the opposition with the ball, putting pressure on the opposition.

Rohit Sharma has rotated his bowlers pretty well and his players too have repaid the faith, making sure that they pick wickets at regular intervals. All the bowlers have been decent and have picked a wicket each to make sure that India takes command of the game.

While his captaincy has been sensational, one thing that has caught the attention of many is that Rohit Sharma is also making Shubman Gill learn a lot about captaincy. The opening batter has been having a lot of chat with the young batter and is sharing all the plans with him.

Rohit Sharma was seen having consistent chat with Shubman Gill after the overs. This could well be a plan by the management as they might have asked Rohit to guide Shubman along the way who is potentially seen as the future India captain.

Shubman Gill was recently appointed as the vice-captain of the India National Cricket Team in the white-ball format. Him getting the role ahead of KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya clearly shows that he is being considered as the long-term plan for the captaincy of Team India by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Coming to the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. They didn't have a great outing as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Pathum Nissanka slammed a vital half-century at the top before Dunith Wellalage played a crucial innings of 67 runs to take his to a total of 230 runs.

Rohit Sharma's India have a good batting line-up but I think 230 is a good score - Dunith Wellalage

Dunith Wellalage talked about his innings with the bat and revealed that the wicket was turning so he had to play his normal game. He admitted that India National Cricket Team had a good lineup but they have put a good score on the board.

Dunith Wellalage also issued a warning to the India National Cricket Team, saying that they have No.1 spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and they will try to take early wickets and put pressure on the opposition. Speaking after the innings, he explained:

"Wicket was turning a bit, so played my normal game. Since the track was slow, I tried to sweep the ball and rotated the strike. India have a good batting line-up but I think 230 is a good score. We have No. 1 bowler Wanindu Hasaranga and good fast bowlers. Wicket not easy to bat on, so we will try to get partnerships with the ball," he concluded.
