Rohit Sharma is all set to feature in the three-match ODI series in the upcoming Australian tour, as he shared his plans with Mayanti Langer and reminisced about his spectacular career under prevalent Aussie conditions.

Ahead of the much-anticipated series against Australia, former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to make his much-awaited return to a white-ball tournament since he last played in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

The veteran has retired from the other two formats of the game, while he continues to feature in the Indian side for the 50-over format, as they eye the ICC World Cup 2027, after having missed the trophy closely by a very narrow margin in 2023.

Rohit Sharma loves playing against Australia - Debut in 2008 to the upcoming tour of 2025

Rohit recently engaged in a talk show alongside Mayanti Langer, where the player discussed his legacy against Australia and was then congratulated for his immense contributions to Indian cricket.

"Your first tour of Australia was in 2008?" Mayanti Langer, the presenter, asked, while the former skipper Rohit Sharma answered, 'Yes, 2008!'

She further continued, "2008 to now, 2025—that's a sea change. You love this opposition and you love scoring runs against them."

Rohit Sharma replied, "I love playing against them, and I love going to Australia. It's a challenging country to play cricket in, and the people there love the game as well. But certainly, Australia will throw a different challenge, which they have every time they played against us."

"But having been there several times, I do understand what to expect. But hopefully, we can go there and do what the Indian team is supposed to do. Try and win games and get the result in our favour," he highlighted the challenges posed by the Aussies.

Rohit Sharma trains for Australian conditions with bouncy tracks in nets

As per reports, Rohit Sharma has resumed practicing in the nets on the Mumbai grounds. His practice sessions have included 2 hours of compelling batting practice, throwdowns, and several other fielding sessions as well. Rohit has also worked extensively on his fitness ahead of the series.

His unique preparations include practicing under Australian conditions. He has asked for freshly prepared bouncy tracks, and he has also demanded the inclusion of lanky fast net bowlers so that he can face off against the Aussie kind of bowlers.

The Australian pace attack includes the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshius, who are tall quicks offering some great help under bouncy conditions.

Rohit might pin hopes on the World Cup 2027 despite the Captaincy snub

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have marked their much-awaited return to the Indian ODI side after having missed international cricket for a period of over 8 months.

The two stars had shown some stunning form in the Champions Trophy, as Kohli scored a hundred against Pakistan and a match-winning knock against Australia, while the Indian skipper dominated in the Champions Trophy final.

They were also the two highest-scoring cricketers in the ICC World Cup 2023; however, India lost in the final of the tournament.

The two veterans are planning to feature for India in the 2027 World Cup, which will be held in South Africa; however, the Indian management has yet to provide any clarity on the two veterans' roles.
