The upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final is of utmost importance for the Indian team. The outcome of the final will not only decide whether the Indian team finally ends its long wait for an ICC trophy in the 50-over format but will lay the foundation for the 2027 World Cup preparations.
With the team-management keen on stabilizing the leadership of the team, the result of the Champions Trophy final will also determine Rohit Sharma's fate as the captain of the Indian team.
At present, Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian team in ODIs and Tests. He retired from T20Is last year after guiding the team to its second T20 World Cup title.

BCCI to announce revised contracts after Champions Trophy 2025
According to reports, it is still one of the main reasons behind the BCCI's decision to delay the announcement of the new central contracts. Times of India has reported that the selectors and the team-management could take the tough decision to move on from Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Test and the ODI teams.
The news outlet stated that chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir have already held discussions in this regard with the BCCI as well as Rohit Sharma after the disastrous tour of Australia earlier this year. Rohit Sharma was also open to the idea of setting a roadmap for the team after the end of the Champions Trophy.
Rohit is still confident of his future
"Rohit still believes there is some cricket left in him. He has been told to communicate his plans going forward. Retiring is his call but there will be another discussion around continuing with captaincy.
Rohit himself understands the need to have a stable captain if the team wants to prepare for a World Cup. There have been talks with Kohli too but there doesn't seem to be much anxiety around him," a BCCI source told TOI.
Rohit Sharma eyes Champions Trophy title and A+ contract:
The report further stated that the outcome of the Champions Trophy final will also determine Rohit as well as a few other senior players' fate as far as the central contracts are concerned. As of now, the likes of Rohit, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have A+ contracts.
However, there have been question marks over Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja's place in the top grade after their retirement from T20Is and their poor display in Tests last season.
According to the current BCCI policy, only those players get the A+ contract who perform well in all the three formats of the game. The situation, however, could change if the trio helps India win the ongoing Champions Trophy.
