Rohit Sharma is in line to play against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Next, the Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face SRH on April 29. According to Cricbuzz, the former skipper is working hard to make a return.

Rohit Sharma has missed three matches in a row because of a hamstring injury he sustained during a match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Since April 12, the experienced opener has been out of action in IPL 2026. Due to Injury, he missed the matches against the Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and the Chennai Super Kings.

Rohit Sharma missed three back-to-back matches because of a hamstring injury

It was previously assumed that Rohit Sharma could miss one or two matches, but he missed three. In the previous game, which was against the Chennai Super Kings, MI suffered a 103-run defeat at the Wankhede Stadium. In place of Rohit, the management formed an opening pair with Quinton de Kock and uncapped Indian batter Danish Malewar, which did not work.

"However, it is now understood that Rohit is on the road to recovery and should be available for the April 29 match. Sources indicate that he has been working on his fitness with the MI trainers and coaches, and there is a growing sense of optimism within the team management. "Rohit is working hard in the middle to get back to full fitness," Cricbuzz mentioned in their report.

Mumbai Indians players get some time to get themselves refreshed

"The MI players have a couple of days off. The squad has flown to Jamnagar for a bonding session and will return on Sunday before resuming practice ahead of next Wednesday's match," it further added.

The defeat against arch-rival CSK was heavy for the team. But the head coach of the Mumbai Indians, Mahela Jayawardene, did not want to leave the team disappointed. After the match, the Sri Lankan legend wished to win all seven remaining matches to keep themselves in the title contention.

Rohit Sharma has so far played in a decent way

"I feel that if we play our best cricket, we have a great chance, but the confidence, the focus, and the discipline have to be there for the next seven games. Well, I don't know yet whether we need to win all seven, but obviously, starting, I would like to do that - but let's see how the tournament goes," the Mumbai Indians head coach said after the CSK match.

To win the match, the team will need to field its strongest possible playing combination. Rohit Sharma's return will definitely bolster their batting strength. At one point in the ongoing Indian Premier League, the opener even held the orange cap. With one half-century so far, Sharma scored 137 runs, at a strike rate of 165.

MI's clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad will be at the Wankhede Stadium followed by the return clash with the Chennai Super Kings which will be Mumbai's away fixture.
