Rohit Sharma Is The Best Candidate For India's T20I Captaincy, Says Virender Sehwag

Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag backs Rohit Sharma to become India’s next captain in the T20I format.
Virat Kohli, who is the current captain of India in all formats, will be stepping down from the captaincy role for India in the shortest format after the ongoing T20 World Cup ends.

Players like Rohit, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant stand in contention to assume to lead India in T20I cricket.
Amongst all the candidates mentioned above, Rohit is the likeliest front-runner to lead India in T20Is.
Without any doubt, Rohit has shown his credentials in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he has won the trophy five times with Mumbai Indians as their skipper.

Sehwag said that Rohit should lead India after Kohli steps down from the captain’s role in the shortest format.
“I think there are many candidates for captain but I think Rohit is the best candidate because he has done well as a leader for the Mumbai Indians team in the IPL,” Sehwag said in a video uploaded on his official Facebook page.
“He has won the IPL championship five times. So according to me, the next T20 captain of Team India should be Rohit Sharma,” he added.
According to some media reports, India’s newly appointed head coach Rahul Dravid also wants Rohit to be the leader in T20Is.
India’s current form in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE has shattered the fans and experts back at home as they lost their first two games in Group 2 against Pakistan and New Zealand.
India defeated Afghanistan by a margin of 66 runs on Wednesday to register their first victory in the tournament and kept their slender hopes of qualifying in the semi-final stage alive.
India will play against Scotland on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
