"Rohit Sharma is the next MS Dhoni" - Suresh Raina gives jaw-dropping verdict on the Indian skipper

Rohit Sharma has shown exceptional leadership skills in the ongoing five-match Test series against England. He has led the side to a series win after winning the fourth Test which was played at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi. Rohit Sharma led an inexperienced side in the absence of key players like Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul with Ravindra Jadeja missing the second Test and Jasprit Bumrah missing the fourth Test. Former India cricketer Suresh Raina draws similarities between Rohit Sharma’s and MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

Rohit Sharma has given chances to a lot of youngsters under his regime, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, and Mukesh Kumar are some of them to name a few. He has been a true captain who is leading the side and preparing the next generation of superstars. After losing the first Test in Hyderabad, the Indian skipper led the team to three back-to-back wins to seal the series against Ben Stokes and company.

Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina feels Rohit Sharma is the next MS Dhoni and lauds his approach of giving a lot of opportunities to the youngsters. Suresh Raina has played a lot of cricket under MS Dhoni as he was also a part of the same IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. According to Raina, Rohit Sharma is in the right direction and is a brilliant captain.

Suresh Raina said to Times Of India while drawing comparisons between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni as captains “Rohit Sharma is the next MS Dhoni, he has done well, giving a lot of chances to youngsters the way Dhoni did. I played a lot of cricket under Dhoni – Rohit is going in the right direction, he is a brilliant captain”.

Rohit Sharma became the first captain to beat Bazball in a Test series. The strategy of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum was undefeated before this series. India also registered their 17th consecutive Test series win at home as they have been undefeated at home since 2012. Rohit Sharma has performed well with the bat too scoring 297 runs in 4 matches which includes a century and a half-century. He scored 131 in the first innings of the third Test match in Rajkot and 55 in the second innings of the fourth Test match in Ranchi.

India and England will now face each other in the fifth and final Test match of the series which will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The fifth Test match is a dead rubber in terms of the Test series but both sides will give their best against each other to win the Test match and improve their PCT on the WTC Points Table.
