Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fielding coach Jonty Rhodes talked about the team's plan for Rohit Sharma if the Mumbai Indians batter comes in the auction. He said that they would be ready to welcome him as he is a great player.
Since the last edition of the Indian Premier League, Rohit Sharma has been in the news and there have been reports that he might enter the upcoming mega auction. This comes after the unfair treatment of the India National Cricket Team by the five-time champions which saw the team getting criticised a lot as well.
Ahead of the IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians came up with a massive announcement. They sacked Rohit as the captain of the team and made Hardik Pandya the new skipper.
This comes as a massive surprise because the batter guided the team to the five titles in the league and made them most successful.
Rohit reportedly wasn't happy with the way he was treated, and also there were reports that claimed that there was a rift in the team because of Hardik Pandya's leadership.
Not only this, it was even reported that 2024 was his last season for the franchise, and he will be entering the auction.
There were recent reports which suggested that Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants are keen to acquire the services of the opening batter in their team for the league. They are keen to go all out for the India National Cricket Team skipper because of what he has done for the team.
The reports claimed that both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants have reserved a huge amount of money for Rohit Sharma and the franchises just want confirmation from the India National Cricket Team skipper if he will be leaving the Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Jonty Rhodes wants Rohit Sharma to play in IPL 2025 for Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants fielding coach Jonty Rhodes said that they are keen to get Rohit Sharma on the team. He explained that every team would want to acquire the services of the batter if he goes in the auction. Speaking to News 24, he explained:
"If Rohit comes into the Auction, LSG is ready to welcome him. He is such a great player; every team will be glad to go for him in the auction."
Rohit has been a legend in the Indian Premier League. He started his career with the Deccan Chargers in the league, but after that, he became part of the Mumbai Indians and became the heart and soul of the team. He was given the leadership of the team in 2013, and since then, it has been a historic run.
Rohit Sharma captained Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. With the kind of impact that he has made in the league both as a batter and captain if he comes into the auction, he would no doubt take the auction by storm.
