Rohit Sharma openly revolts against BCCI with special Instagram story for 'sacked' Abhishek Nayar

India captain and Mumbai Indians’ seasoned opener Rohit Sharma has found his form with the bat at the perfect time, as the ongoing IPL 2025 is reaching its second phase.

On Sunday, April 21, Rohit Sharma lit up the Wankhede Stadium with a superb knock of 76* to power Mumbai Indians to a nine-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2025 clash.

After his Player of the Match show, Rohit thanked India’s former assistant-cum-batting coach and his close friend, Abhishek Nayar, for helping him to come out of his rough phase. The India skipper shared a picture of himself on his Instagram Story and tagged Abhishek Nayar while thanking him. Notably, Nayar was recently sacked by the BCCI after the BGT debacle.

This was not the first time when the Indian captain approached Nayar, but he has sought the help of his old friend many times when he was facing the challenges with the bat. Like always, this time also Abhishek Nayar rescued Rohit and helped him regain his form in the ongoing IPL 2025.

How Abhishek Nayar helped Rohit Sharma to bounce back in the IPL 2025

As reported by Cricbuzz, Abhishek Nayar has been quietly working with Rohit Sharma behind the scenes, even after joining Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) following his sacking by the BCCI from his role as India’s assistant coach last week.

The report claimed that Rohit and Nayar have been training together for a while, including during the ongoing IPL 2025. Even a day before Rohit’s quick knock of 26 runs off 16 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 17 at the Wankhede Stadium, the senior MI batter was seen practicing with Nayar at the MCA’s BKC facility in Mumbai.

It seemed that Rohit’s practice session with Nayar worked wonders for the Indian skipper, as he returned to his form in the very next match and guided Mumbai Indians to a massive win over the Chennai Super Kings. With this win, MI completed a hat trick of wins in the ongoing season.

Earlier in the season, Rohit struggled with poor scores of 0, 8, 13, 17, and 18. But now, things have been turning out amazingly for the right-handed batter, thanks to Nayar. It is being said that both Rohit and Nayar have been working together for a long time now.

Since Rohit is aiming to play in the 2027 ODI World Cup, he is working closely with Nayar on his fitness and batting to stay at the top both in terms of fitness and batting form.

Notably, BCCI recently made changes to India’s support staff, and Abhishek Nayar was one of the few names that were shown the door after the team’s poor Test show and media leaks.

Along with Nayar, the BCCI also released fielding coach T. Dilip, strength and conditioning trainer Soham Desai, and masseur Arun Kanade. Interestingly, all four of them are believed to have had a close relationship with Rohit.
