Rohit Sharma speaks on facing Bangladesh
While speaking to Star Sports ahead of India's opening Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma spoke about the difference between a bilateral series and an ICC tournament which makes the latter more difficult.
"ICC trophies are always important because they are very different from bilateral series. You play against different teams and not the same teams. It is a big challenge in itself," Rohit observed.
The Indian skipper also shed light on Bangladesh and claimed that they have been playing good cricket in the past few years. He asked his team to play good cricket to win the match.
"We have a match against Bangladesh, they are a good team. They are playing very good cricket from the last few years. It won't be easy for us to win the match. Hume apna cricket khelna padega, hume acche tareeke se khelna padega (We have to play our best cricket, we have to play it properly)," he added.

"The boys know what to do in important games" - Rohit Sharma
India have been playing some excellent cricket in ICC tournaments in the last few years and Rohit Sharma wants his team to continue the momentum. He wants his team to be at their best and expects India to win the title.
"Whatever we have been doing from the last few years, we have to repeat that here. The boys know what to do in important games. Hopefully, we can come together and put in some good performances for the team. We have another opportunity to do well in this tournament. Hopefully, we can take the trophy with us," the Indian captain said.
India won the last ICC tournament which was the T20 World Cup 2024. It was India's first ICC trophy in more than a decade. However, the team has been performing extremely well in ICC events by making it to the semi-finals and finals consistently.
India's schedule in Champions Trophy 2025
India will face Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai. It will be the first match of the tournament for both teams. The tournament is being hosted by Pakistan but the hybrid model ensures that India will play all its games in Dubai and won't be required to travel to Pakistan.
After this match, India will face the arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23. The Men in Blue will round off their group stage with a match against New Zealand on March 2. The top two teams from each of the two groups make it to the semi-finals.
