However, when Rohit burst onto the scene, the current Indian skipper was involved in a heated exchange of words with a fan during India’s tour of Australia in 2012. In a video clip that went viral at the time, Rohit Sharma and ex-Indian pacer Praveen Kumar were seen having a verbal spat with some of the fans at the MCG while batting in the nets. Rohit Sharma was particularly very angry with the fans who were trying to cause disturbance.

Recalling the incident, Praveen Kumar revealed that it was fans of the Indian team itself that were abusing him, Rohit Sharma, and Manoj Tiwari. “I have never got into a fight with anyone. We three were there – me, Rohit Sharma, and Manoj Tiwary. We were at the Nets, I think it was in Melbourne. Our own fans abused us. They were Indian fans who were abusing Rohit Sharma. His patience ended, and he shot back at them, and I joined. I am telling you that it is our own who abuse us,” Praveen Kumar said in an interaction with The Lallantop.

In the same interaction, Praveen opened up about his habit of drinking alcohol and stated that a senior Indian cricketer maligned his image. “When I joined the Indian team, a few senior players asked me to stop drinking and avoid a few other things. However, everyone consumed alcohol but still maligned my name. While many senior players treated us youngsters very well, there was someone who spread negativity around my name. I don’t want to name that person on camera, but everybody knows who ruined my image,” said Praveen.

Rohit Sharma is considered a calm personality when it comes to expressing anger but Virat Kohli on the other hand is not shy about expressing his anger on the field, be it against the players or the fans. Virat Kohli was also involved in a heated altercation with a fan who was trying to troll him after RCB’s loss against CSK in the IPL 2013. He also showed his middle finger to the SCG crowd during the 2012 IND vs AUS series.
