India, Rohit Sharma with unwanted records

It was Rohit Sharma's 12th consective loss at the toss and he has equalled Brian Lara, who also holds the record to lose the most no. of tosses in a row in ODIs when he was West Indies captain.

Meanwhile, it was India's fifth consecutive loss at the toss. India maintain their record for losing the most no. of tosses in a row in ODI cricket. The previous best was Netherlands, who had lost 11 tosses in a row.

The Men in Blue surpassed Netherlands' record in the game against Pakistan played just a few days ago. Out of the 15 tosses, Rohit has lost 12 while KL Rahul lost the other 3 tosses when India toured South African in 2023.

The last time India won the toss was way back in 2023 World Cup semi-final against the same opposition New Zealand at Mumbai. Their current streak is ongoing since the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia.

New Zealand bat first after winning the toss

New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. They made one change in their Playing XI by bringing in Nathan Smith for Matt Henry, who injured his shoulder in the last match.

Meanwhile, India went unchanged in the game which means that they are continuing with four spinners. India qualified for the final by winning all their games in the tourmament so far.

On the other hand, New Zealand have won three and lost one game so far. Their only defeat came against India in the last group stage match of the tournament.

India are the favorites but New Zealand have an excellent record in the ICC tournaments which makes them a dangerous opposition for any team. It is expected to be a close contest with both teams having the required skills.
