For a fact, the upcoming T20 World cup could be one of his final ICC tournaments, given the fact that he is already 36 and his peak year are far behind him. A lot will depend upon his fitness as well because by the time the next Cricket World Cup comes in 2027, Rohit Sharma will be 40-years-old.
But his main objective at the moment is to help the Indian team do what it has never done before and that is to win a Test series in South African soil. Although his own record at South Africa isn’t that great and that is why this series is going to be very important for him not just as a Captain but also as a Batsman.

He has spent considerable time off the field to cope with the WC final loss on November 19th and he is expected to be fresh for the South African challenge. If India is able to win this series then it might reduce the pain of the WC final loss in which he scored 47 off 31 balls.
Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in India’s historic triumph in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Despite being a relatively inexperienced player at the time, Sharma’s stellar performances showcased his immense talent and composure under pressure.
In the crucial group stage match against South Africa, his unbeaten 50 not only guided India to victory but also displayed his ability to handle high-stakes situations. Additionally, in the final against Pakistan, Sharma’s crucial 30 off 16 balls played a significant role in India’s competitive total. His contributions in the tournament marked the beginning of a remarkable international career and set the stage for his future leadership roles which he is fulfilling today.
