The Indian cricket team’s most dependable asset, Jasprit Bumrah, has yet again turned out to be a game-changer for the team in the blockbuster ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match against Pakistan on Sunday, June 9.
Bumrah returned with the match-winning spell of 3/14 to help India crush the Men in Green by a mere six runs in the last-over thriller at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
At the packed Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Bumrah's precision bowling put relentless pressure on the Pakistani batters, complemented by Rishabh Pant's smart wicketkeeping in the high-voltage T20 World Cup 2024 match between India and Pakistan.

In this epic showdown, Bumrah's skill and tactical acumen were on fire, as he played a key role in Team India’s successful defense of the modest target of 119 runs against Pakistan cricket in New York. For his remarkable performance, the Indian pacer was awarded the awarded the Player of the Match award.
After India's thrilling six-run win over Pakistan, Bumrah opened up about his love for bowling and his preference for balanced contests over high-scoring affairs. While the entire world is criticizing the pitches in New York for the mega event, Bumrah said that he has no complaints about the venue.
Notably, the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has been the center of attention for the uneven bounce on the pitch, with any pace bowler hitting the surface hard and getting a brilliant result. On the other hand, the outfield at the venue is very slow and sluggish, and batters found it really challenging to go for the big shots, which led to their dismissal.

However, Bumrah expressed satisfaction with the assistance bowlers are getting in New York. The Indian speedster mentioned that the pitches in the recent IPL 2024 were heavily favoring the batter, but in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, bat and ball are evenly matched, and he loves the even contest.
The Yorker specialist said that bowlers and batters should have an equal opportunity to shine, so he is very happy to see the challenges in the ongoing 20-team tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah said during the post-match press conference: “We are very happy that we did not come here with that baggage (of IPL being batter friendly) and when we are getting help here, we were trying to use it. I have played a lot of cricket in my young years—when the bat and ball challenge is good it is more interesting to watch the match. When it is bat vs bat, I switch off the TV. I have been a fan of bowling since childhood. When there is a challenge between bat and ball, that is the game I like. No complaints. I am very happy.”
He also opened up about his recovery from the injuries that he sustained last year and his stunning comeback to deliver the best in the ODI World Cup 2023, the IPL 2024, and now the T20 World Cup 2024.
Bumrah signed off by saying, “I try to stay in the present and focus on what I have to do. Because if I look at the outside noise, if I look at people and pressure and emotion take over, then things do not really work for me. So, I was trying to do that, trying to create my own bubble, and trying to focus on that and try to put my best foot forward.”
