The India national cricket team scripted history during the first Test of the three-match series against the New Zealand national cricket team. Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, became the first international cricket team in the 147-year history of Test cricket to smash 100 sixes in a single calendar year.

India got bowled out for only 46 runs in the first innings of the match. The Tom Latham-led team took a massive 356-run lead with a century from Rachin Ravindra, who scored 134 runs off 157 balls, including 13 boundaries and four sixes. New Zealand scored 402 runs before being bowled out on Day 3.

It is worth mentioning that the Men in Blue scored 87 sixes in a calendar year in 2021 before the Ben Stokes-led team smashed 89 maximums.
