Rohit Sharma's poor form continued with the bat even in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, drops himself for last game

Rohit Sharma's poor form continued with the bat even in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The India National Cricket Team skipper failed to get going in the three games that he played, and also that confidence reflected in his leadership as well as he wasn't up to the mark.

Rohit Sharma batted in the middle order for two games, and that move didn't work, but after that, he moved back to the top in the Melbourne Test. However, he still couldn't get going, and ultimately, he took the hard call and then decided to drop himself from the ongoing fifth Test, which is taking place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

Rohit Sharma spoke to the media on Day two of the ongoing match and said that he stood down for the team. He admitted that he tried all the things, but things didn't work in his favor, and hence, he decided to drop himself for the ongoing game and handed leadership to Jasprit Bumrah.

Rohit will probably get a send-off there - Robin Uthappa

With Rohit Sharma missing the match, there have been a lot of speculations if the fast bowler has played his last Test or not. But Robin Uthappa believes that it won't be the last game for the skipper as he is the world-cup winning captain. He stressed that he would get a proper send-off. Speaking in a video shared on his Instagram handle, he explained:

"People have [been] contemplating or speculating, 'Will it be his last Test match? Will he not play Test cricket again?' In my opinion, I don't think so. I think there are six months before the next Test series; Rohit will probably get a send-off there. He is a World Cup-winning captain."

Yes, he has had a very lean year in Test cricket but he has been a consistent performer - Robin Uthappa on Rohit Sharma

Robin Uthappa added that people are looking at the negative side of all the things. He admitted that although the batter is having a rough patch he has been a consistent performer for the team in other formats as well. He elaborated:

"With the intensities and the losses of this tournament, people are looking at it in a negative light. Yes, he has had a very lean year in Test cricket, but he has been a consistent performer in other formats of the game, and I think that legends of the game deserve a decent send-off."

Rohit managed just 31 runs in the ongoing series at an average of around 6 in the series.
