The 30-year-old West Indies National Cricket Team pace-bowling all-rounder Romario Shepherd has created history with his bowling performance in the third T20I against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

The third T20I between West Indies and Bangladesh was hosted by the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram on Friday, October 31.

Over the years, the West Indies have produced some legendary T20 cricketers, including batters, bowlers, and all-rounders who fall in the 'Greatest of all-time' category.

However, those T20 cricketers have not always served the West Indies National Cricket Team for a long time, wearing the maroon jersey in the T20 Internationals.

Several Caribbean bowlers have taken a T20 hat-trick, but in T20 Internationals, Jason Holder was the only West Indian with a hat-trick in his name for a long time. He bagged a hat-trick against England in 2022.

However, now Jason Holder has got a company as the star Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) all-rounder Romario Shepherd has taken a stunning hat-trick against Bangladesh to create history. He dismissed Nurul Hasan, Tanzid Hasan, and Shoriful Islam to achieve the feat.

After being invited to bowl first in the match, the West Indies bowling unit did a great job, with Shepherd being the chief architect. He bagged his first wicket on the sixth ball of the 17th over, by dismissing Nurul Hasan for 1.

Then, he returned to bowl the 20th over, and on the first ball itself, he dismissed Tanzid Hasan for 89. On the very next ball of the over, he castled Shoriful Islam for a golden duck to complete his hat-trick.

Feels good to finally join that club - Romario Shepherd

Speaking during the mid-innings break, Shepherd stated that he was totally unaware that he was on a hat-trick until he reached the landmark. He elaborated:

"I didn’t actually know that I was on a hat-trick until I got the hat-trick, I was more focused on closing out the innings. Jason came out and told me that it was a hat-trick and told me to go for four wickets in four balls.

"(On getting the hat-trick by knocking the stumps over of the batter) When you’re a young fast bowler, you watch others knocking stumps over and you dream of doing the same. Feels good to finally join that club. It is a chaseable total but we don’t know how cricket goes, last time we defended 150, so you never know. Hopefully, we can turn things around this time, with the team batting first."
