Kieron Pollard has reclaimed the top spot on the all-time T20 run-scoring charts, overtaking Jos Buttler during Trinbago Knight Riders’ Caribbean Premier League 2026 clash against St Lucia Kings. The veteran allrounder produced a stunning late effort in CPL match despite TKR eventually falling short in the high-scoring contest.
Kieron Pollard needed 35 runs to move back ahead of Buttler and went well beyond that mark with a blistering 65 off just 26 balls. His knock took his career tally to 14,921 T20 runs, while Buttler remains second on 14,890.
Kieron Pollard overtakes Jos Buttler as T20 cricket’s top run-scorer
Pollard entered the game knowing he had an opportunity to reclaim the record from Buttler. He made full use of it, smashing 65 runs at a strike rate of 250 while batting at No. 6 for Trinbago Knight Riders.
The 39-year-old struck six fours and five sixes during his 26-ball stay, taking his overall T20 tally to 14,921 runs in 749 matches and 666 innings.
Kieron Pollard had previously moved past Chris Gayle earlier in 2026, only for Buttler to surpass his tally while playing in The Hundred in August. The West Indies great has now responded by moving back to the summit.
His five sixes against St Lucia Kings also took his career tally to 1,010 maximums. He is now 47 sixes away from matching Gayle's record of 1,057 sixes in T20 cricket.
Kieron Pollard will next have the chance to become the first batter to reach 15,000 T20 runs when TKR face Barbados Tridents.

St Lucia Kings crush Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL 2026 clash
St Lucia Kings posted a mammoth 211/4 after being sent in to bat, with Tim Seifert producing the standout performance. The New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 105 off 61 balls, striking eight fours and five sixes.
Kamill Pooran added 25 off 17 balls, while Charith Asalanka chipped in with 33 from 21 deliveries. John Campbell also made a quick 27 off 17 balls as the Kings maintained a scoring rate of more than 10 runs per over.
TKR needed a huge effort in reply, but their chase ended at 175/6, handing St Lucia Kings a 36-run victory.
Kieron Pollard provided the biggest spark with his 65 off 26, while Colin Munro scored 48 from 35 balls and Sunil Narine made 25 off 14. However, the required run rate remained beyond TKR as wickets fell at regular intervals. Roston Chase was the pick of the Kings' bowlers, finishing with 3/24 from his four overs.

Nicholas Pooran admitted that TKR's bowling struggles have become a concern but insisted the team's young players need guidance as they attempt to turn their campaign around. He said:
"I think we started off pretty well in the powerplay, in all honesty. We have been struggling as a bowling group in the last couple of games, and there’s no secret about it."
Pooran said the team needs to find a way to build momentum after suffering a series of defeats.
"T20 cricket is very contagious, right? Winning and losing. Obviously, we’re losing games now, and we’re finding ways to lose games, but it’s fine. Again, we just need to get some momentum."
The TKR captain also stressed the importance of helping their younger players deal with pressure and learn from mistakes.
"We know how difficult this game is, and at the moment it’s all about guiding them and being there for them and trying to teach them and help them when they make mistakes."
