Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their second game of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, in a dominating fashion against their fiercest rivals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), on Sunday, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The defending champions scored 250/3 in their 20 overs, with the help of carnage hitting from Australia batter Tim David.
Tim David went into absolute mayhem against the CSK bowlers, as he changed the course of the match in the span of two overs. David smacked 30 runs in the 19th over against Jamie Overton, with four sixes in the over, and one of which went outside the stadium for a 106m six. The fans enjoyed Tim David’s batting last night.
Tim David went into absolute carnage
Tim David was unbeaten at the score of 70 off 25 deliveries and struck 8 sixes and three boundaries in his explosive innings. David has been one of the most improved overseas batters in the IPL against spin, and it was seen last night when he smacked Noor Ahmed for three back-to-back sixes.
After Tim David’s innings, even the teammates of RCB were awestruck. Following the match, David was spotted sitting in the dressing room with his teammates, while all-rounder Romario Shepherd provided his own passionate commentary on the Australia batter’s innings.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Shepherd jokingly said, "We all know that you (David) take your first five balls and then you just, you know, go." While saying this, the West Indies star made a playful gesture, triggering laughter across the dressing room. Even star batter Virat Kohli could not hold his laughter in response to Shepherd's comment.
Tim David won the player of the match. He completely changed the course of the match with his carnage innings; if that knock had not been played, the match would have been a different scenario.
Very pleased - does not always happen that way- Tim David
After playing the match-winning knock, David said, “(On his innings) Very pleased - does not always happen that way. The skipper was smoking it, and I just took some balls off him - it was super fun. I do not change my game much, but I have confidence from all the prep I do. Going in to bat with Jitesh and Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence.”
“Lot of prep we do here. Nice to work with DK - he is an experienced player in these conditions. Have been in the IPL for a few years. With that prep, you don't put pressure on yourself to perform.”
CSK's top order faltered
Coming to the match, while chasing the target of 251, CSK never looked comfortable as they lost three wickets early; however, a fiery knock from Sarfaraz Khan, Prashant Veer, and Jamie Overton somewhat saved CSK from humiliation, as they were bowled out for the score of 207 and lost the match by 43 runs.
Sarfaraz was the only batter to score a fifty for CSK in the run chase, and this loss meant that the Men in Yellow have now lost three games in a row for the first time in the history of the IPL. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain, will be under huge pressure in the IPL 2026, as any other loss would cost him his captaincy.
