Ross Taylor To Retire From International Cricket Soon; New Zealand Batter Will Play His Last Three Series Against Bangladesh, Australia And Netherlands

New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor has announced that he will retire from international cricket soon. The 37-year-old informed on Thursday that he will play three more series before turning the curtains down on his career. Taylor will play a Test series against Bangladesh, and two ODI series against Australia and Netherlands.
New Zealand is set host Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in January 2022. The series will commence on January 1 with the 1st Test and conclude on January 13. Later, New Zealand is set to tour Australia for a three-match ODI series and one-off T20I. The tour will begin on January 30 next year and conclude on February 8 with the T20I game. Thereafter, New Zealand will host Netherlands for a three-match ODI series and one-off T20I from March 25 to April 4.

In a tweet on Thursday, Ross Taylor broke the news of his upcoming retirement from international cricket. In his tweet, he also thanked everyone for supporting him during his 17-year-long career.
“Today I’m announcing my retirement from international cricket at the conclusion of the home summer, two more tests against Bangladesh, and six odi’s against Australia & the Netherlands. Thank you for 17 years of incredible support. It’s been an honour to represent my country #234”, Ross Taylor wrote. Have a look at the tweet below.

The right-handed batsman made his international debut in December 2006, in an ODI against Sri Lanka. Ross Taylor has 18,074 international runs to his name till date. He is the Kiwi player with most runs in international cricket as well as ODIs and Tests.
The right-handed batsman has scored 7584 runs in 193 Test innings, 8581 runs in 217 ODIs, and 1909 runs in 94 T20Is. He averages 40+ in both ODIs and Tests. Taylor has also slammed 19 centuries in Tests and 21 in ODIs. He has also smacked 35 and 51 half-centuries in Tests and ODIs respectively including 7 fifties in T20Is.
New Zealand winning the ICC World Test Championship 2019-21 title was probably the biggest highlight of Ross Taylor’s career. He also played a good role in the match, scoring a good knock while chasing the 139-run target against India. Ross Taylor was also part of the squad during 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups, where New Zealand finished as runners-up.
