Tom Kohler-Cadmore has called Riyan Parag's journey in the game inspirational and has backed him to play for Team India.

Parag's comeback in the IPL is indeed inspirational. He struggled to live up to the expectations in the previous IPL seasons and faced severe trolling on social media. In three of the last four seasons, he could not even touch the 100-run mark.

The highly-rated batsman finally showed what he is capable of by performing consistently with the bat in the ongoing season. Rajasthan Royals gave him the responsibility to bat at number four and the Assam star has grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Riyan Parag is Rajasthan Royals' leading runs-score this season ahead of the likes of Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Overall, only three batters have scored more than him in IPL 2024. So far, he has scored 531 runs in 13 games with the help of four fifties.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore on Riyan Parag's performance:

Riyan Parag's performance this season has impressed not only the fans but his teammates as well, as Tom Kohler-Cadmore heaped praise on the youngster. The English batter pointed out how his teammate struggled in the last couple of years before bouncing back this season. He also called him a future star in the making and backed him to play for Team India.

"Very inspirational actually. I've followed his journey a little bit from afar. He's had a couple of tough years, he's had a lot of abuses and he's had a lot of people kind of hating on him.

"For him to be able to come out this year and show everyone actually how good he is, the performance, the pressure he was under ... to be able to do it, I think we are seeing a future star in the making. I am sure he'll play a lot for India," said Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals look set to finish at the third spot in the points table as the start of their last league game against Kolkata Knight Riders is delayed due to rain. If the game is eventually washed out, they will finish at the third spot and face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Eliminator.
