India National Cricket Team speedster Jasprit Bumrah is presently plying his trade for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing IPL 2024, and he has yet again impressed one and all with his exceptional skills and unorthodox bowling action.

Gujarat-born Bumrah is widely regarded as one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in the modern era. He poses a daunting challenge to the batter across all formats of the game with his ability to generate pace, seam movement, and deadly accuracy, and the ongoing IPL 2024 isn’t different.

The 30-year-old pacer, who is also known for his adaptability, clever yorkers, and deceptive slower balls, has become a key player in India's bowling attack as well as for the Mumbai Indians (MI). Well, after Bumrah’s another incredible bowling show, West Indies legend Ian Bishop came up with a surprising yet valuable suggestion for the bowler himself and India.

I wouldn’t wait until Jasprit Bumrah retired: Ian Bishop

Ian Bishop expressed his admiration for Bumrah, saying if he could, he would grant the Indian fast bowler a "Fast Bowling PHD" for his exceptional skills and communication. He also lauded Bumrah's communication skills, knowledge, and articulacy.

The legendary West Indian further proposed the idea that Bumrah should share his knowledge by conducting his bowling lectures for aspiring seam bowlers of all ages and levels across the country, for which he should not wait for his retirement.

Ian Bishop wrote on the X (formerly known as Twitter): “If I could anoint Jasprit Bumrah with a fast bowling PHD, I would. He is a terrific communicator, Knowledgable & articulate. I’d then have him hold bowling lectures to young for aspiring seam bowlers across the country at all levels. I wouldn’t wait until he retired. #professor.”

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah returned with stunning figures of 3/21 in his quota of 4 overs to help the Mumbai Indians (MI) beat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 9 runs in their last game in the ongoing IPL 2024 on Thursday, April 18, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mulllanpur.

Bumrah has now taken 13 wickets in seven games so far in the ongoing IPL 2024. With his brilliant display against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), Bumrah surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal (12) to become the leading wicket-taker in the league, as he is the Purple Cap holder at the moment.

This format is a little difficult for the bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah

After the PBKS vs MI match, Bumrah said in the post-match presentation ceremony: “Much closer game than what we thought. Want to make an impact early on. In this format, the ball swings for two overs, and you want to make use of that.

This format is a little difficult for the bowlers because the batsmanship is going over, plus the time restrictions and the Impact Player rule. What you can do is prepare your best and back yourself. Go out there and give your best. I try to relay messages from wherever I am on the field. You don't want to give too many messages.”

Well, with this close win over Punjab, the Mumbai Indians (MI) jumped to the 7th spot in the IPL 2024 points table with 6 points from 7 games so far in the tournament. Mumbai will next travel to Jaipur to face the table-topper Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next IPL 2024 game on April 22.
