In what has been the latest development as per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, Liam Livingstone has left Punjab Kings (PBKS) early even though they still have two games left in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The England all-rounder left the team to get his knee issue sorted ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Liam Livingstone has been struggling with his muscle injuries in the last few years. In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), the England all-rounder missed two games. He suffered an injury during the game against Lucknow Super Giants and then was out of the action.
After that Liam Livingstone was left out of the team due to the team combination. The all-rounder then returned to the team in their last game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but it wasn't a fruitful outing for him as he bagged another low score and PBKS got eliminated from the Indian Premier League.
Liam Livingstone struggled to get going in the Indian Premier League. He managed to score just 111 runs at 22.20 in seven innings, striking at 142.30. Apart from that he also took three wickets in the 12 overs that he bowled in the league for the team Punjab Kings.
The reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that Liam Livingstone's injury is not that serious but he wants to be completely ready for the T20 World Cup 2024. However, he will be needing rest and might miss the four-match T20I series against England.
The other members of the England National Cricket Team in Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Reece Topley will be returning home in the next few days. They won't be part of the league for the playoffs as ECB wants them to be available for the series against Pakistan.
Coming to the Punjab Kings, they yet again didn't have a great campaign in the India Premier League. They became the second team to be eliminated from the Indian Premier League. They managed just four wins and eight defeats from their first 12 games so far and would be hoping to end the season on high.
