Punjab Kings might look up to Harshal Patel or Shashank Singh as skipper in IPL 2024. Punjab Kings have faced a lot of issues in the leadership department in IPL 2024. 

Even towards the end of the season, they have to find a replacement for stand-in skipper Sam Curran. The England all-rounder is set to fly back to England after the next game against Rajasthan Royals. 

Curran will be part of the forthcoming T20I series against Pakistan, followed by the T20I World Cup. Shikhar Dhawan was the actual skipper of Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. 

However, Dhawan faced a shoulder injury after the first few games. As a result, Sam Curran was installed as the stand-in skipper for the side. Curran also lead the team in many games.

Harshal Patel or Shashank Singh to take Punjab Kings' leadership in IPL 2024

Now, since Sam Curran is set to fly back to England, Punjab Kings will need a new skipper in IPL 2024. However, the franchise will need a captain for only one game, as Punjab are out of the playoffs. 

According to reports in Sportstar, Punjab Kings is going to pick either Harshal Patel or Shashank Singh as stand-in skipper. Both players became a part of the franchise in the IPL 2024 season. Both have showcased a marvelous form in the league. 

Right-handed batter Shashank Singh has slammed the most 352 runs for the team in 12 games. He has a stunning average of 58+ and a strike rate of 168. He has also stormed 2 half-centuries in IPL 2024. 

Harshal Patel is the leading wicket-taker for Punjab Kings in IPL  2024. The right-arm seamer has grabbed 20 wickets in 12 matches. He has an economy of 9.15 and an average of 20.0. 

Meanwhile, Sam Curran failed to lead the Punjab Kings to a wonderful show in IPL 2024. However, he gave a decent show. Curran slammed 207 runs in 12 games and also captured 14 wickets.

Punjab Kings take last spot in points table 

Punjab Kings will take on Rajasthan Royals in their next match of IPL 2024. The match takes place at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Thursday, May 15. 

Post the game, they will clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last match of IPL 2024 on Sunday, May 19. Punjab Kings have won 4 games and lost 8 out of 12. With 8 points, they take the last spot in the points table.
