Legendary Sachin Tendulkar had a brilliant reaction to Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head's whirlwind batting against Lucknow Super Giants at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday (May 8).

The Sunrisers Hyderabad openers blew LSG away as they powered their team to a historic 10-wicket victory in the crucial game. After suffering a seven wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians in their previous game, SRH needed to win the game to bolster their playoffs chances and they won it in style.

Set a target of 166 runs, the Hyderabad-based outfit chased down the total in just 9.4 overs to create history. They broke the record for the highest total chased inside 10 overs. Head and Sharma went all out against LSG to power their team to the seventh win of the season.

Both the batters came out all guns blazing right from the start. Head smashed a 16-ball fifty while Sharma did it in just 19 balls. Head went on to hit an unbeaten 89 runs off just 30 balls with the help of eight fours and eight sixes. On the other hand, Sharma remained unbeaten on 75 runs. His knock came off just 28 balls and was studded with eight fours and six sixes.

Head and Sharma's whirlwind batting left everyone in the cricketing fraternity stunned. Not only the fans but present and former players were also stunned with their power-hitting. Sachin Tendulkar, arguably the most decorated batter in the history of the game, also had a similar reaction. The former India batsman stated that the SRH would have scored 300 runs if they batted first.

"A destructive opening partnership would be an understatement tonight. Had these boys batted first, they would’ve scored 300!" Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Mumbai Indians get knocked out:

While Sachin Tendulkar was mighty impressed by Head and Sharma's batting, SRH's win has also knocked out Mumbai Indians out of IPL 2024. The former cricketer is currently a part of Mumbai Indians' support staff. Mumbai Indians are currently languishing at the ninth spot in the points table with 8 points from 12 games.

Even if they go on to win their remaining two league games, they will finish on 12 points. However, at least four teams are confirmed to finish with at least 14 points this season. Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have 16 points while SRH are on 14 points at present.

On the other hand, one between Delhi Capitals and LSG will go to 14 points after the game between them. As a result, Mumbai Indians have been eliminated from IPL 2024 at the league stage.
