RR vs RCB Match Preview- Eliminator, IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals

RR became the first team to get to 16 points. However, four back-to-back losses in the second half of the season meant that they got stuck on 16 points.

Their final league game against KKR was rained out and hence they missed the opportunity to finish second on the points table due to an inferior NRR. SRH's win over PBKS in their final league match meant that they finished second in the points table with 17 points.

RR will miss out on Jos Butler for the remainder of the tournament. Tom-Kohler Cadmore who played in the previous game against the Punjab Kings has big shoes to fill.

The RR players are in form and need to put out a unified performance in the Eliminator.  No doubt they are under pressure heading into this knockout game.

RR Squad

Sanju Samson (c), Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Donovan Ferreira, Kunal Rathore, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Sen, Navdeep Saini, Sandeep Sharma, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, Rovman Powell, Shubham Dubey, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Abid Mushtaq, Nandre Burger, Tanush Kotian, Keshav Maharaj

Royal Challengers Bangalore

After winning just one out of their first 8 games, RCB won their last six games on the bounce to make it to the playoffs. This is the ninth time they have made it to the playoffs.

Cricket experts are now backing RCB to go all the way given their momentum heading into the Eliminator.

RCB lost to RR earlier this season, but the tables have turned currently. They have all the momentum in the world at this point while their opponents are timid as a team after their slump in the later stages of the league stage.

Virat Kohli's form with the bat is another massive boost heading into this game. He is already on 708 runs for the season and looking to maximize. RCB needs to win three more games to win their first IPL title.

RCB Squad

Faf du Plessis (c), Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Anuj Rawat, Dinesh Karthik, Suyash Prabhudessai, Will Jacks, Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma, Manoj Bhandage, Mayank Dagar, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Himanshu Sharma, Rajan Kumar, Cameron Green, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Tom Curran, Lockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, Saurav Chauhan

RR vs RCB Key Battles

Faf du Plessis vs Trent Boult

Du Plessis will be up against Trent Boult and looking to maximise the Kiwi bowler which will give him a chance to dismiss him in the game as well.

Virat Kohli vs Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal will be up against his former RCB skipper Virat Kohli. Kohli struggles against the spinners early on in his innings and this is where Chahal and Ashwin might target to pick up his wicket.

Sanju Samson vs Mohammed Siraj

In the absence of Buttler, Samson is the key batter for RR. He will need to score quickly to give his team a quick start. Siraj who has regained his form in the second half of the season will look to dismiss him early.

Riyan Parag / Yashasvi Jaiswal vs Glenn Maxwell

The two young batters might look to target Glenn Maxwell who picked up a wicket in the very first ball of his spell against CSK. This keeps him in the game as well and he can dismiss both the batters.

RR vs RCB Key Players

For RCB, Virat and Faf are key with the bat. With the ball, Siraj, Lockie Ferguson, and Yash Dayal will be key after the way he bowled the last over against CSK.

For RR, in the absence of Jos Buttler, Samson, Jaiswal, and Parag will be key with the bat. With the ball, Ashwin, Chahal, and Boult will be key

RR vs RCB Weather and Pitch Report

There is no rain threat and the weather forecast is very clear for this match. The temperatures will be around 30-35 degrees in the evening with clear skies.

Speaking about the pitch, the Motera track has been good for batting this season and will stay true to its reputation. We can expect a high-scoring contest.

Conclusion

There is no looking back for the team that loses this ELiminator contest. The winner advances through to the Qualifier 2 in Chennai on Friday, May 24.
