Virat Kohli, on Wednesday (May 22), failed to get going with the bat during the Eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

While the former RCB skipper got the start once again, he could not convert it into a big score like he usually does. The right-handed batsman departed after scoring 33 runs off 24 balls with the help of three fours and a six. He was dismissed by his former RCB teammate Yuzvendra Chahal.

While Virat Kohli could not score big against Rajasthan Royals, he did enough to add yet another feather to his already illustrious cap. The former India skipper has created history by becoming the first-ever player to reach the 8000-run mark in the IPL

He needed 29 runs in the game to reach the historic landmark. He currently has 8004 runs from 252 matches in the IPL. Virat Kohli has also scored a record eight centuries and 55 half-centuries in the competition while playing for RCB from the very first season in 2008.

No other player has even managed to touch the 7000-run mark so far. Shikhar Dhawan is second in the list with 6769 runs followed by Rohit Sharma who has scored 6628 runs so far. David Warner and Suresh Raina complete the top five.

A season to remember for Virat Kohli:

Virat Kohli has had a stunning campaign with the bat in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Only for the second time in his IPL career and the first time since 2016, he has touched the 700-run mark in a season. So far, he has scored 741 runs in 15 games with the help of one century and five fifties. No player has scored more runs than him this season.

His batting is one of the main reasons behind RCB's stunning turnaround in the tournament. RCB were languishing at the bottom of the points table after losing 7 of their opening 8 games before winning 6 games in a row to storm into the playoffs.
